Staff Accountant Intern

Do you have a passion for finance and accounting while making a greater impact in the community? We are seeking a motivated part-time Staff Accountant Intern who will help support a mental health practice located in Falls Church, VA as we continue to grow. You will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including timely and accurate issuance of weekly/monthly accounting and reporting processes, analyzing data, preparing financial reports, payroll. You will gain real world exposure to small business and health management accounting.

The Staff Accountant Intern will play a key role in our private psychology practice. We are looking for someone who is warm and inviting, excellent with written text and phone communication, and who is detail-oriented and organized.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•You will be responsible for timely and accurate issuance of weekly/monthly accounting and reporting processes
•Data entry and reconciliation between multiple systems
•Communicate efficiently and effectively with the rest of the team
•Perform Payroll
• Perform AP/AR processes and procedures
•Support different elements of the month end close and reporting processes
•Manage Quickbooks and bookkeeping
•Create a comprehensive Accounting Processes and Procedures document
•Correspond with staff regarding payroll issues/errors
Assist with data entry
• Assist with month-end financial reports
• Post journal entries
• Help with accounts receivable, payable, and EHR reconciliation

QUALIFICATIONS
•0-2 Years level of experience required
•Strong Microsoft Excel skills
•Self starter, willing to take on new initiatives; proactive
•Analytical, problem solving skills
•Great communication, both written and verbal
•Able to work well in a team or independently
•Reliable, consistent, responsible
•Detail-oriented and organized to follow up with clients and referral sources

REQUIREMENTS
•GPA of at least 3.60. Applications where GPA does not meet this criteria will not be reviewed.
•1 year commitment required. No letter of recommendation or reference will be provided for any less amount of time. 
•Candidates who are looking for a long term relationship are given strong preference
•Candidates with any type of prior job experience are given preference
•Warm and inviting personality, excellent with verbal and written communication
•Detail-oriented and organized 
•Driven by goals, able to work towards meeting goals without getting frustrated or giving up
•References and former job experience are required

Hope+Wellness is a private practice specializes in providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals with depression, anxiety, and stress. We work with kids, teens, young adults, college students, and adults. 

ABOUT THE POSITION
Through this position, you will gain supervised, hands-on clinical experience. Past applicants have gained admittance to graduate school, including doctoral level and masters level programs in psychology and counseling.

Pay is hourly and the hours are flexible with virtual availability (e.g., off-site). 

**Freshmen are particularly encouraged to apply, along with Seniors who are planning to take 1-2 gap years
