Student Strengths Coach (Undergraduate)

If chosen for this exciting program, you’ll join a collaborative team of undergraduate students from across George Mason to be trained and hired as George Mason Student Strengths Coaches.
Through this program, you will:
- Understand your own strengths and how they impact all areas of your life.
- Learn and apply the foundations of strengths and well-being, including the 34 CliftonStrengths talent themes developed by The Gallup Organization.
- Make an impact in the lives of students through the learning and application of coaching skills in real-life scenarios, supported by dynamic and knowledgeable faculty and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Successfully complete the 3 credit hour Student Strengths Coach course in Fall 2026 (UNIV 379 – Student Strengths Education) - Mondays 4:30pm-7:10pm, in person, Fairfax Campus.
- Please note that this class requires active student engagement. You are expected to contribute to discussions by:
- Asking questions
- Responding to classmates’ ideas
- Offering perspectives or examples
- Helping move the conversation forward
- Participation is evaluated on engagement and effort, not on correctness. Listening carefully and responding thoughtfully to others is just as important as sharing your own ideas.
- Please note that this class requires active student engagement. You are expected to contribute to discussions by:
- Able to commit to 5-10 hours a week (maximum of 15) in Spring 2027, with the opportunity to continue in future semesters. Paid employment includes coaching, meetings, and other programmatic activities. Actual number of hours will vary each week depending on coaching demand.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate - Open to undergraduates who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors during the 2026-2027 school year. Earliest graduation date - Spring 2027.
- Demonstrates awareness of and curiosity about strengths.
- Committed to personal growth and helping others grow.
- Able to successfully complete the semester-long, 3-credit training course in Fall 2026.
- Able to fulfill paid coaching hours in Spring 2027 (average 5-10, maximum of 15 hours a week).
- Maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.5 throughout the training and coaching semesters.
