Expectations
The AI & Innovation intern will support our Insight Decision Science function by exploring, prototyping, and building AI solutions that enhance decision-making across the commercial domain. You will collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, product leaders, and business stakeholders to develop and experiment with GenAI and LLM-based applications to unlock new insights.
This internship is ideal for a student who is passionate about AI engineering, eager to learn, and interested in the healthcare and life science industries.
Anticipated Projects
- Assist in the design, prototyping, and development of LLM-based and GenAI applications to support internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the AI & Innovation team to explore use cases in US Commercial, such as knowledge retrieval, context engineering, decision support, and workflow automation.
- Help evaluate and experiment with different AI models, tools, and frameworks under the guidance of experienced AI engineers.
- Support data preparation, agent builds, prompt design, and model evaluation to improve the performance and reliability of AI solutions.
- Contribute to documentation, including design specifications, technical notes, and end-user guides.
- Present findings, prototypes, and progress updates to the AI & Innovation team and relevant business partners.
Minimum Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated interest in Generative AI (GenAI) Engineering, particularly in healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., coursework, projects, research, or hackathons).
- Strong Python and SQL programming skills and familiarity with modern software development practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to prototype and build LLM applications, leveraging APIs, SDKs, or relevant frameworks.
- Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Preferred Competencies/Experiences
- Familiarity with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and their AI/ML services.
- Experience with common AI/ML or GenAI libraries and tools (e.g., MCP, A2A, RAG, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangGraph, Vector Databases).
- Understanding of basic data handling, including data cleaning, transformation, and simple analytics.
- Prior exposure to healthcare or pharmaceutical datasets, workflows, or regulations (e.g., through academic projects or internships).
