Research Associate
Seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Research Associate with the immunology and large molecule bioanalytical chemistry group. An individual who demonstrates exemplary organizational skills with a proven track record of working independently and on teams is ideal. The Research Associate must have previous immunology, molecular biology, and/or microbiology experience and will primarily be responsible for assisting in the performance of multiple immunology, molecular, and infectious disease research projects simultaneously in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, including complex in vitro experimental design, assay development, validation, and sample analysis, using immunological, molecular, and microbiological techniques with multiple classes of microbiological agents. A well-qualified person will have the opportunity to work in other infectious disease areas including bacterial, fungal, viral, and toxicity assay/model support and development. and to lead projects within these scientific areas.
The Research Associate will be responsible for maintenance of continuous cell cultures, accurate and complete study records, supply inventory, and laboratory equipment. Responsibilities also include developing paperwork, analyzing data, processing study samples for quantification by standard methods, all while maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment. The Research Associate will also be responsible to lead scientific projects and to provide scientific guidance to staff. Additionally, a well-qualified candidate will be developed to interact with internal and external clients.
Qualifications
The position requires a Master’s degree in immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, or similar discipline, as well as at least two (2) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Must have experience in complex research methodology, principles and procedures. Must have the ability to successfully perform a variety of laboratory procedures using standard laboratory equipment and instruments. Must have the ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and report data. Must have knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice Guidelines (FDA, OECD, EPA). Preference will be giving to individuals who have experience in a regulated setting (FDA, GCP, etc.) and with management of projects.
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
This position may involve work inside the ABSL3 facility which may require vaccinations/immunizations. A Post-offer physical and background check are required.
Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
